Be Accountable

“As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” Proverbs 27:17

A body that is deficient in iron will cause one to become physically weak. Likewise, a friendship that is iron deficient, where no one is being sharpened, will also become weak. People may fear to upset you or hurt your feelings, but a real friend that truly loves you would much rather make you upset and please God instead of appeasing you.

Accountability is not bossing people around and telling your friend what to do with her life. It is encouraging her to do what God has already instructed her to do in His Word. You are not only helping each other stay out of sin, but helping one another move forward into being all that God created you to be.

You will never grow on an island isolated away from people. Nor will you grow if you surround ourselves only with those that tell you what you want to hear. You need people that get up under your skin and irritate you, and those who encourage you to grow and mature. Not “yes” people, but a friend who feels personally responsible for helping you reach your full potential and fulfill God’s plan and purpose for your life.

Sharpen your friends, and let them sharpen you. There will be sparks, but you will be a better person and your friendship will be stronger.

Prayer: Father God, I need more iron in my life. I pray that you send true friends that will not appease me but will sharpen me and help me be all that you called me to be. Help me also to be iron for others, someone who knows how to hold people accountable without fear, but from a place of love and humility. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Message from God’s Heart for You

“A son honors his father, and a servant his master. But if I am a father, where is My honor?…” Malachi 1:6

“If I am your Father, where is My honor? From the moment I saw you in trouble and distress, I quickly came to your rescue, and at the sound of your cry, I delivered you from the hand of your enemies. When you had nothing, I provided for you and caused you to be made full. When others left you, I stood by your side and watched over you as you slept, comforted you as you wept, and kept you when you didn’t want to be kept, and now, I ask you, My daughter, where is My honor? Didn’t I keep My promise to you? Didn’t I turn it all around? Didn’t I keep My word and set you free from bondage, and guilt and shame? So where is My honor? I want you to honor Me with your life. Honor me with your tithe and the first fruit of your increase. Honor Me with the giving of your time and greater attention to My Word. Honor Me by honoring those who serve Me. Honor Me by waiting patiently for Me to do what only I can do. Honor Me by forgiving those who have hurt you. Honor Me by letting go of the past and moving forward. Honor Me by letting Me use you to the fullest extent, and following Me wherever I lead you. Honor Me by obeying My still small voice that speaks to you. This is how you honor Me, and when you honor Me, I will surely honor you. Says the Lord.”

God is calling you higher!

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” Hebrews 12:1

My sister, where God is taking you, you can’t afford to be in strife with anyone. Where you’re headed in your walk with God, you can’t have bitterness in your heart. Forgive and know they are not spiritually and emotionally mature enough to understand the hurt they’re causing you. Forgive and trust God. He is calling you higher, and with this calling you’re going to have to lay aside every weight and sin that slows you down and hinders your progress. Your goal is to be and do all that God thought of when He was creating you. And that is far too valuable to waste on foolishness.

Prayer: Yes, Lord! I receive your wisdom and I ask that you help me. Help me to stay away from strife, and from anything that grieves your Holy Spirit. Help me learn how to walk in peace with everyone and do what you’re asking of me. In Jesus name, Amen.

Do not be anxious about your life.

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life,…” Matthew 6:25, ESV.

Your life is in God’s hands. You can’t control how He blesses you, all you must know is that He will. You don’t know how He will meet your needs; all you must know is that He will. You don’t know how He is going to get you from where you are right now to where He wants you to be in life. All you must know is that you’ve prayed, and He’s heard you. It is His timing, His plan, and His perfect will that is in effect for you. When you stop trying to figure out how and when you will be able to rest in His immense love and receive His grace that is apportioned to you today. Anxiety builds in our hearts when we concern ourselves with things beyond our control. God’s grace builds in our lives when we walk in what He has set in front of us today.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I ask that you touch my heart. I have been anxious about many things, and I’m sorry. I receive your peace and comfort right now. I acknowledge your presence in my life. Thank you for being with me and for caring for me. You are my God; I have no reason to worry. I have no reason to be all worked up. I know you will take care of me. As I cast my cares on you, fill me with peace and joy. I ask that you help others to see how good you are so they too can be anxious for nothing. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Be patient while He works.

“For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” Hebrews 10:36

One night I went to sleep worried about many things. As soon as I opened my eyes the next morning, I heard the Lord say, “You have need of patience, that, after you have done my will, you might receive the promise!” All I could say was “Yes, Lord, I hear you.”

God knows that you believe Him for many things: to heal, to save, to provide, to deliver, and your list goes on. You want God to be God in your life and to respond. But the problem is, you go to bed worrying, and you wake up worrying. Maybe you haven’t slept for a full night in years because you are thinking constantly about whether God is going to answer your prayers and when. But I say to you the same word God spoke to me early that morning; you have need of patience, that, after you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise!

Trust that God is who He says He is, and He will do what He said He would do in His perfect timing and in His perfect way. Don’t let go of your faith just because you don’t see anything yet. God has heard you, and He will come through for you. You have to be patient while He works. No one rushes a surgeon to perform heart surgery. No one yells through the door for a brain surgeon to hurry up in working on their relative’s brain. We want doctors to take their time because we want it done right. God will help you to be patient. He is setting you up to see His goodness as you’ve never seen before. When He’s done, it’s going to be just right.

Prayer: Father God, thank you, Lord, for speaking directly to my heart and my situation. Please forgive me for worrying and stressing out. I need help trusting in you and waiting patiently for you. Help me understand even more how much you love me and care about me. Help me to believe when I don’t see anything with my natural eyes. I’ve done all I know to do. Now, I pray that you help me to rest in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Message from God’s Heart for You

“You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation]” Isaiah 26:3, Amplified.

“Let Me be the one who consumes you. I am an all-consuming fire. Let Me be the one who consumes your thoughts, the one who is always on your mind. Why are you consumed with everything but Me, and distracted with the cares of this life? You wonder why you have no peace. My peace comes from a mind that is consumed with thoughts of Me. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. This is something you must allow because I will never force My way, and I will never force you to think about Me all through the day. You have to decide to keep your mind stayed on Me. I want you to guard your peace. Do not allow anyone to come in and disrupt My flow of peace in your home and your life. My peace is the secret to you being guided by Me. Guard it. Says the Lord.”

The Ripple Effect

“For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” Habakkuk 2:14

You may look out at the big world and wonder how you can be used by God to do great exploits as only one woman. But just as a small pebble thrown into a lake produces a ripple effect that stretches far and wide, your act of obedience to God right where you are, produces such a powerful effect in the earth that grows wider and wider. Let God use you, my sister, and it will produce a ripple effect that reaches far beyond you into your vast surroundings. Don’t despise the size of your gift or your small beginning. Offer yourself to the Lord and let Him do with you as He wills.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for speaking directly to me. I choose to let you use me right where I am. Let it produce a ripple effect that stretches far and wide. Help me to not despise the size of my gift or my small beginning, but to offer myself to you to be used for your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You Are Successful When Obedient

“Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work” John 4:34, Berean Study Bible.

What does success look like to you? Think about that question for a moment.

Understand real success is not huge profits, large turnouts, a hundred likes, or fame. Success is not luxurious houses, fancy cars, or expensive trips. Some people have the appearance of success, but wonder why they are still unhappy. It is because real success comes from 1) surrendering our lives to the Lord, and 2) obeying Him.

My sister, you are successful when you are obedient to the Lord. I’m going to say that again. You are successful when you are obedient to the Lord.

Sometimes God will tell you to leave the Fortune 500 company with the six-figure salary to follow Him and step into your calling. If you do, you are successful. Sometimes God will have you say something that will not be applauded but bring ridicule and attacks. If you do speak, you are successful. When God does this, He’s teaching you what real success is—surrender and obedience.

Prayer: Thank you, Father, for renewing my mind and transforming my life. I want to be what you consider successful, so help me be obedient to you. Help me, Lord, to obey and leave the results to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

He will make your rough places smooth.

“The valleys will be filled, and the mountains and hills made level. The curves will be straightened, and the rough places made smooth” Luke 3:5, NLT.

My sister, you will experience God making your rough places smooth. Every area of your life is being smoothed out by the Spirit of God. There will be no more rough places in your heart and soul. There will be no more rough and rocky, or dangerously jagged cliffs in your life. God is smoothing out and leveling out your path. You will see a constant provision and flow of His wisdom as you’ve never seen. Some of His wisdom, you will ask for, and at other times, it will just come to you from those around you without asking. This wisdom will help you make wiser choices that will help to smooth out your life. You’ve endured hardness, but your life isn’t supposed to be hard and rough all of the time. Follow His wisdom and counsel. The Lord wants to bless you and make you a blessing. He wants to make your rough places smooth.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for speaking directly to my heart. You are my God, and no one can do what you do. Some areas of my life has been rough and hard. I receive your wisdom and invite you to come in and smooth out every rough place. Thank you for smoothing it out, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
